Personal Information You Provide
We collect the information you give us when you create an account on an L'Oréal website, make purchases from us (online or in-store), sign up for our loyalty program, enter a giveaway, contest, or sweepstakes, share a photograph, video, or product review, contact our Consumer Care Center, sign up for offers by email, or engage with us in another way. This data consists of Personal Information (data that can be used to identify you as an individual), which includes data like your name, social media handle, email, phone number, residential address, and payment data like your account or credit card number, as well as the other data listed in the above chart. We get the data you share during the conversation if you use the chat feature on one of our sites. In order to personalize your beauty experiences, we also gather information about your demographics, hobbies, and website usage habits.
We might collect and keep your image(s) if you use one of our virtual try-on features, for instance, if you utilize social sharing to send your image to a friend or post it online or if you save it to your profile.
You might be able to use your Facebook or Google account to sign up for our sites and check in to the chat services. These platforms may request your consent before sharing certain information with us (such as your name, gender, or profile image), and all information is shared in accordance with their respective privacy policies. Mobile Services/Apps: Certain of our mobile apps and tools offer opt–in, geo–location services and push notifications. Geo-location services provide location–based content and services, such as store locators, local weather, promotional offers, and other personalized content. Push notifications can include discounts, reminders or details about local events or promotions. Most mobile devices allow you to turn off location services or push notifications. If you turn on location services, we will collect information about the Wi–fi routers closest to you and the cell IDs of the towers closest to you to provide location–based content and services
In-Store Analytics: We may use certain in-store wireless services (such as Wi-Fi networks and Bluetooth beacons) to automatically collect information about visitors to our stores. Our Wi-Fi routers capture certain data from mobile devices that interact with the router, including information about your mobile device (such as a MAC Address and signal strength data). Bluetooth beacons are small devices that broadcast a Bluetooth signal to map nearby Bluetooth-enabled mobile devices. We may use the data collected from these in-store wireless services to provide operational insights such as foot traffic volumes and how customers move through our stores.
Pixels: In some of our email messages, we use click through URLs that will bring you to content on our sites. We also use pixel tags to understand whether our emails are read or opened. We use learning from this information to improve our messages, reduce frequency of messages to you or determine interest in content we share.
Information from Third Parties.
We receive data from our third-party partners, such as the publishers who carry our advertising and the merchants who sell our goods. This data consists of geolocation, offline records, marketing and demographic data (including identifiers, commercial and purchasing information), analytics data (including internet data), and inferences. Additionally, if you gave permission for them to use and share your information, we might also acquire information from other businesses that compile data from publicly accessible databases or otherwise aggregate it. This could be de-identified data regarding consumer preferences, shopping locations, and websites of interest to our customers. We also collect information about users who share common interests or attributes (e.g. color treated hair) to create user “segments,” which help us to better understand and market to our customers. Social Platforms.
You can interact with our brands, use our chat or try-it-on tools, apps, and websites by logging in using Facebook (including Instagram), Google, or other social media sites. Social networking networks, other third-party platforms, plug-ins, integrations, and applications that you use to interact with our content may request your consent to share certain information with us when you do so (e.g. name, gender, profile picture, likes, interests, demographic information). Subject to the privacy policies of the third-party platform, such information is shared with us. In order to better serve you and provide more personalization and better beauty products, we do this in order to gain a more full understanding of your preferences for our beauty products and services.
Everything we do, and the data we collect, is in pursuit of bringing beauty to your life.
We use information for beauty to provide better products, services, customization and offers. For example, we use information to:
- provide tailored and personalized content, services, advertisements and offers, including based on your beauty characteristics and preferences
- respond to questions and otherwise interact with you
- provide news, emails, and other requested communications from us
- administer and manage your account or loyalty program membership

In order to better understand your online interests, including the adverts you interact with, we might also divulge information to third parties. To improve your experience using our websites and products, this data may be matched with information that we process about you. However, they are not allowed to use personal information for their own independent marketing campaigns or other purposes. These third parties may use this information for their internal business needs, such as process or product improvement. Identifiers, internet or network activity, geolocation data, purchasing information, protected classifications, information pertaining to one's profession or employment, audio-visual information, other categories of personal information, geolocation information, payment information, other information, and inferences drawn from the aforementioned categories of information are some examples of the information that may be shared, depending on the particulars of the business transaction.
Your Agreement To Have Your Personal Information Shared:
You could be requested to consent to the sharing of your information with a third party, including social networking sites like Facebook or Twitter, in connection with advertising or our sites, or to receive information and/or marketing offers from someone else. For instance, when you give permission for the use of cookies (and similar technologies) via our cookie manager, we share information (identifiers, Internet or similar network activity, commercial information, and inferences) with third-party marketing and advertising networks and social media to serve you tailored and personalized advertisements. Your Personal Information will be subject to the privacy policies and business practices of any third parties with whom you choose to share it.
The completion of a transaction you requested may also require the sharing of personal information. For instance, online payment methods operated by third parties are used to process payments for transactions made through some of our Sites. Some of our websites include tools offered by third parties, such as plugins, widgets, and other tools. Business Transfers
We exchange information with the L'Oréal Group, our parent company, and its subsidiaries. We might sell or buy assets as we build out our firm. Personal Information and any other information that we have acquired may be revealed to such entity as one of the transferred assets if another entity purchases us, our assets, or assets connected to the Sites. Additionally, all such information may be regarded as one of our assets and as such may be sold or transferred to third parties if any bankruptcy or reorganization case is brought by or against us.
Legal Disclosure
Ecologia may transfer and disclose information, including Personal Information about you, to third parties in order to: comply with a legal obligation; when we have a good faith belief that the law so requires; in response to a subpoena from governmental authorities conducting an investigation; in order to: verify or enforce our Terms of Use or other applicable policies; in the event of an emergency; or in any other circumstance where doing so is necessary to protect the rights, property, safety, or other interests of Ecologia, our users
7. YOU PRIVACY RIGHTS, YOUR CHOICES
You may change your preferences and unsubscribe from email services from our brands by
1. modifying your registered user information on the Sites
2. sending us an e–mail to the email address listed in Contact Us located at the end of this notice
3. following the unsubscribe instructions in the communication that you receive.
We reserve the right to remove certain records that contain Personal Information you have provided through the Sites as part of our regular record-keeping procedures. We disclaim all liability resulting from or connected to the destruction of such Personal Information and are not required to keep such Personal Information on file for an endless period of time. You should also be informed that due to backups and other factors, it is not always feasible to totally erase or remove all of your information from our systems without leaving behind any residual data.
As long as your account is open, we'll keep your personal data as long as it's essential to offer you services, abide by legal duties, settle disputes, and uphold agreements. Use one of the methods given in Contact Us, which is found at the bottom of this privacy notice, to get in touch with us if you want to cancel your account or ask us to stop using your personal information to provide you with services. Certain privacy settings and choices upheld by our social media partners, such as Facebook and Twitter, are not under our control. By going to the settings page of the relevant social networking site, you can modify such settings and preferences as needed.
Mobile
By changing the permissions on your mobile device, you can at any moment choose not to receive push notifications or grant Ecologia Inc access to your location data. By deleting the mobile application, you can prevent our mobile applications from collecting any additional information. Please be aware that even when you remove the mobile application from your device, the specific identifier for it will still be kept. We will be able to once again connect this identifier to your prior transactions and activity if you reinstall the application on the same mobile device.
8. COOKIES, INTEREST-BASED ADVERTISEMENT AND ADCHOICES
If you would prefer not to accept cookies, you can manage your cookie preferences by clicking on the “Cookie Settings” button located on the bottom of the website homepage. You cannot disable essential cookies. We use certain analytics services, such as Google Analytics, to gather information about our site visits or mobile app usage.
You can also change your browser settings to notify you when you receive a cookie, which lets you choose whether or not to accept it; or set your browser to automatically reject any cookies. However, please be aware that some features and services on our Sites may not work properly because we may not be able to recognize and associate you with your account. We use third party companies to serve advertisements, measure the performance and engagement with our ads, provide analytics, preference, and interest information. In some instances, these ad network providers, social platforms, sponsors, and/or analytics providers may use their own tracking technology to capture information about your device, use and engagement online.
We may recognize your information across different devices that you use or log in from (i.e. computers or mobile devices.). We may recognize that one cookie ID (i.e. from a computer) may be connected to another device (i.e. smart phone) by the device ID or log in. This may result in you searching for one of our products on one device but seeing an ad later for that product on another device. By knowing what devices are being used by a person or household helps us limit the number of times you may see the same ad across different devices. We may also combine information we collect from your devices with other information we have about you, such as your account information, services, transaction history, and interaction with our sites.
9. TEXT/SMS MESSGE CONSENT AND OPT OUT
If you choose, you can provide your mobile phone number to receive text message alerts from our stores or sites to receive product and/or event information, tips or promotions. You agree that by providing your mobile phone number you expressly consent to receive automated marketing text messages from us to the mobile phone number provided. Consent is not required to purchase goods or services. Message and data rates can apply, and you should check the rates of your mobile carrier.
We may share your mobile phone number with service providers with whom we contract to assist us with the above activities, but we will not share your mobile phone number with third parties for their own marketing purposes without your consent. Text Messages are distributed via third party mobile network providers and, therefore, we cannot control certain factors relating to message delivery. Depending on the recipient's mobile carrier, it may not be possible to transmit the text message to the recipient successfully; nor is content available on all carriers. We do not claim or guarantee availability or performance of this service, including liability for transmission delays or message failures.
10. YOUR RIGHTS
This section describes your rights and how you can submit your request to us. We do not sell personal information.
Access to Information
You have the right to request that we disclose information about our collection and use of your personal information over the past 12 months, including:
- Categories of personal information we collected
- Categories of sources for the personal information we collected
- Our business purpose for collecting personal information
- The categories of third parties with whom we share that personal information
- The specific personal information we collected about you
Deletion
Subject to certain exceptions, you have the right to request that we delete any of your personal information that we have collected from you and kept. Unless an exception applies, we will delete (and instruct our service providers to delete) your personal information from our records once we receive and confirm your verifiable consumer request.
If keeping the information is necessary for us or our service providers, we may reject a request for deletion. For example, data may need to be kept to:
1. Complete a sales transaction for which we collected the personal information (such as the sale of our beauty products to you)
2. Track consumer complaints or product issues
3. Detect security incidents, protect against malicious, deceptive, fraudulent, or illegal activity
4. Comply with a legal obligation
5. Enable solely internal uses that are reasonably aligned with consumer expectations based on your relationship with us
Submitting a Request
Only you or a person registered with the Secretary of State that you authorize to act on your behalf, may make a request related to your personal information. You may also make a verifiable consumer request on behalf of your minor child.
The verifiable consumer request must include enough details for us to reasonably be able to confirm that you are the person about whom we obtained personal information, or that you are an authorized representative of a resident who wants to submit a request.
We may not be able to respond to your request or provide you with personal information if we cannot verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm the personal information relates to you. Making a verifiable consumer request does not require you to create an account with us. We will ask you for the email information that you used to interact with us or sign up for a loyalty, email, or to make purchases along with other information you submit (such as contact information like name, address, phone number) and the information we have in our systems, to help verify your identity or authority to make the request and confirm that your information is in our system. Information provided to submit a request will only be used for request purposes.
An agent that you choose can make requests on your behalf. We will want a written authorization from you to act on the agent's behalf. Depending on the circumstances, we might also ask you to confirm your identity with us directly and that you gave the agent permission to submit the request on your behalf.
Timing
Within 45 days, we'll try to react to a verified customer request. If we need additional time, we'll give you a written explanation of why and an extension.
Except in cases where a confirmed consumer request is excessive, repeated, or obviously baseless, we don't charge a fee to process or respond to it. Prior to processing the request, we will explain the situation and offer a price estimate if we decide that the request is justified in charging a fee.
You are limited to two requests for access or data portability per calendar year.
Non-Discrimination
We will not discriminate against you for exercising any of your CCPA rights.
Rewards Offers/Programs Calculation – Financial Incentives
We may offer incentives, such as a coupon or discount on purchase in exchange for personal information (e.g. email sign-up). We may also offer a loyalty program that will provide certain perks, such as rewards and exclusive offers, as well as other programs like sweepstakes or contests. We generally do not assign monetary or other value to personal information. If, however, we are required by law to assign such value, we have valued the personal information collected and used as based, in part, on the value of consumer trail of new products and sharing future offers tailored to your interest with competitive value. The value is a practical and good-faith effort often involving the:
1. categories of personal information collected (e.g., names, email addresses)
2. the transferability of such personal information for us
3. the discounted price offered
4. the volume of consumers enrolled in our programs
5. the product or service to which the programs, or price or service differences, applies.
